→ Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS)
UNAIDS and UNICEF are coordinating with Punjab AIDS Control Programme (PACP) and NGOs providing care and support services to people living with HIV (PLHIV) in flood affected districts in Punjab to establish the number of PLHIV who were taking Anti Retroviral (ARV) medicines, but after the floods do not have access to and are in urgent need of (ARVs). Hopefully by 16-Aug we will be able to have a clear picture of the AVR requirement of patients in these districts UNAIDS and UNICEF are also assessing the nutritional requirements of families of PLHIV after the floods, as PLHIVs from these areas are from poor backgrounds, and mostly have additional nutritional requirements under even normal circumstances.
RC office remained in touch with District Disaster Management teams of UNDP in Sialkot, Jhang and Rajanpur. These teams provided technical support to district administration and played active role in Jhang as flood hit a large area in the second week of August.
